Europa, Europa DVD

Europa, Europa (Hitlerjunge Salomon) DVD - 1990 German film directed by Agnieszka Holland. Winner of the Best Foreign Film Golden Globe Award in 1991 - an eerily true tale of a young man's will to survive which brings a fresh approach approach to the horrifying saga of the Holocaust. A Jewish boy separated from his family in the early days of WWII poses as a German orphan and is taken into the heart of the Nazi world as a 'war hero' and eventually becomes a Hitler Youth. Although improbabilities and happenstance are cornerstones of the film, it is based upon a true story. Solly's secret is jeopardized when he falls for a pretty young German girl. Stars Marco Hofschneider, Julie Delpy, and Hanns Zischler. In the original German and Russian audio track or French. Optional English, French or Spanish subtitles. Rated R, 2 hours.
