Details

Die Stille nach dem Schuss (The Legend of Rita) DVD - 2000 film directed by Volker Schlöndorff.  Rita Vogt is a radical West German terrorist who abandons the revolution and settles in East Germany with a new identity provided by the East German secret service. Rita starts her journey as a member of a bank-robbing, terrorist group, loosely based on the real Baader-Meinhof gang. When the gang disbands, she decides to take refuge in East Germany under a false identity. As the years pass and she is forced into other identities, the film becomes a vivid portrait of her growing sense of alienation, although her devotion to the distant ideal of socialism never changes. She lives in constant fear of having her cover blown, which unavoidably happens after the German re-unification. Stars Bibliana Beglau, Martin Wuttke, and Nadja Uhl. Unrated, 103 minutes. The DVD has a German audio track, English subtitles and an audio commentary by the director.
