Warm Spring (Nuan chun) - 2003 Chinese film directed by Wulan Tana. Xiao Hua, a poor orphaned girl, escapes from abusive foster parents and is taken in by a poor, uneducated man whose only wish is to provide her with a home and bright future, and who will do anything he can to live up to his commitment, uncluding enduring constant disdain from fellow villagers and his own son and daughter-in-law who are trying to have a family of their own. This poignant story of selfless love is a study in patience and humility leading to a stirring conclusion in which everyone faces their own intolerance and ingratitude due to the old man's actions.
