"Galaxie" is a French reading scheme from Heinemann in the UK which is designed to support the teaching of French to primary school pupils in international schools (ages 7 - 12). The books are based on the "Rigby Star" readers and have been adapted by language expert Marie-Georgette Bolger. "Galaxie" is a collection of short, stimulating stories which enable students to read in French for information and enjoyment. The books are inspiring and varied and should help children develop their comprehension skills and vocabulary. The books are accompanied by a teaching guide which provides a high level of support - in planning, teaching and assessment. This is done through a range of before, during and after reading strategies and activities.  We currently stock the readers in Level 1 and Teacher's Guide and if there is enough interest, will also stock levels 2 and 3.

Galaxie provides a variety of fun and interesting stories in French readers to enable children: to read and understand short, simple stories, to learn new words and expressions and to read for information and enjoyment. There are 12 titles in level 1 which are sub-divided into three levels of difficulty:

Green band for beginning readers with 6-120 hours of instruction                                   

Blue Band for developing readers with 120-240 hours of instruction                               

Purple Band for competent readers with 120-240 hours of instruction

Each reader can be purchased individually or in a discounted pack of 6 readers.
